Giallourakis & McMinn Recognized by Portico Magazine as 2018 Portico 10 Honorees

Forman Watkins & Krutz LLP congratulates Jackson Partners, Nick Giallourakis and Alison O’Neal McMinn, for being honored by Portico Magazine as 2018 Portico 10 Attorneys.  The PORTICO 10 is a group of up-and-coming attorneys in the Jackson area nominated by local firms, past honorees and members of the community before being chosen by a panel of local judges. Each member of the PORTICO 10 has a long list of accomplishments and rewards to compliment their extensive background in leadership. Recognizing these achievements is what the PORTICO 10 is all about.

Nick is a Partner in our Jackson, Mississippi office.  His legal work has been recognized by Super Lawyers, Best Lawyers in America, and Martindale-Hubbell® Preeminent AV rated. Nick is active in our Firm’s recruiting efforts serving and he has been a member of the Firm’s diversity and inclusion committee since its inception.  Given the breadth of Nick’s professional responsibilities, which include local and national toxic tort product and premises defense, he is also licensed to practice in Missouri, Illinois and Texas. In addition to his dedication to the Firm, Nick is committed to giving back to the local legal community by participating in Stewpot Community Service’s Legal Clinic and the Mississippi Volunteer Lawyers Project.  He is also the President of the Board of Directors for The Arc of Mississippi, a non-profit advocacy organization for those with cognitive, intellectual and/or developmental disabilities.

Alison is a Partner in our Jackson, Mississippi office. She is a litigator, and has taken cases from inception, to trial, and through the appellate process.  Upon graduation from law school, Alison clerked for Judge Leslie D. King of the Mississippi Court of Appeals. Following her clerkship, Alison was an associate in our Jackson office where she managed a docket of over 700 asbestos products liability cases with complex discovery and motion practice, and was also a member of the trial team for six asbestos product liability trials.  Alison’s practice currently focuses on Toxic Tort Litigation, including Environmental and Products Liability cases. Most recently, Alison cross-examined an opposing expert, resulting in dismissal of the case. She is currently defending an appeal of the dismissal before the Fifth Circuit. Prior to joining Forman Watkins, Alison served as Special Assistant Attorney General in both the Civil Litigation and Consumer Protection Divisions of the Mississippi Attorney General’s office. At the AG’s office Alison defended the State in various legal environments including administrative hearings, civil and chancery court cases, federal and appellate courts, and she also participated in a U.S. Supreme Court case. Additionally, she had the opportunity to prosecute criminal cases which included both white collar and violent crimes. Alison is Martindale-Hubbell® Preeminent AV rated, recognized as a Mid-South Rising Star® in Personal Injury Defense, named a Top 50 under 40 Business Leader by the Mississippi Business Journal in 2017, and is a 2014 graduate of Leadership Greater Jackson. Alison is committed to volunteerism and chairs the firm’s inaugural Pro Bono Committee. She previously served as co-chair of both the Diversity and Membership Committees for the Jackson Young Lawyer’s Division of the Mississippi Bar, and has also served in numerous leadership roles in the Jackson community, including the Junior League of Jackson, Mississippi Children’s Home Service Auxiliary, and Jackson Area Delta Gamma Alumnae Group.
