Carley E. Scopelliti focuses her practice on asbestos litigation and toxic tort defense, representing product manufacturers in complex civil matters across New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and New York. She defends clients against liability claims arising from alleged asbestos exposure, bringing a meticulous science-informed approach to matters that demand both technical fluency and sound legal strategy.
Before joining the Firm, Carley developed a litigation foundation, practicing three years doing defense litigation. She earned her J.D. form Hofstra University School of Law, where she served as a Member and Associate Editor of the Hofstra Law Review, participated in the Dean’s Scholar Program, and received the Catalyst Public Service Fellowship. Her undergraduate degree, a Bachelor of Science in Biobehavioral Health from The Pennsylvania State University, gives her a distinct advantage when challenging medical causation arguments, cross-examining plaintiff experts on exposure and disease mechanisms, and developing defense strategy.
Carley’s litigation experience includes briefing and arguing dispositive motions resulting in client dismissals in New Jersey and Pennsylvania state courts, as well as active client involvement in the New York City Asbestos Litigation (NYCAL), one of the most active and plaintiff-intensive asbestos dockets in the country. She also handles toxic tort matters for Pennsylvania-based clients involving alleged exposure to industrial chemicals and complex causation issues.
She understands that asbestos and toxic tort claims carry consequences that extend well beyond the courtroom – threatening insurance coverage, supply chain relationships, and long-term financial exposure – and she approaches every matter with that business context in mind. She strives to ensure no detail is overlooked and no avenue left unexplored.
Clients and colleagues describe Carley as meticulous, dependable, and relentlessly thorough. She communicates proactively and provides the kind of clear, realistic counsel that keeps clients informed and confident at every stage of litigation. Her background across products liability, premises liability, and personal injury defense adds further depth to a practice built on precision and client trust.
