Metcalf and Lewis Successfully Exclude Speculative Medical Testimony in Forestry Herbicide Case

The FormanWatkins forest products team continues its strong performance defending companies who have been sued for alleged personal injuries. Recently, FormanWatkins attorneys Joshua Metcalf and Chelsea Lewis argued successfully for the exclusion of two medical doctors in a herbicide spraying case where the plaintiffs sought to use the doctors to establish a causative link between the herbicide at issue and the plaintiffs’ alleged injuries.

FormanWatkins attorneys Fred Krutz, Brian Hannula, and Andrew Stubbs started off 2021 strong with a summary judgment win in West Virginia! The case was the first of six coal mining claims filed against the same respirator manufacturer to reach the summary judgment stage.

FormanWatkins Lawyers Win Permanent Status for Pro Bono Immigration Client

New Orleans attorneys Tim Gray, Michelle Roy, Margaret McLaughlin, and Jordan Nixon recently prevailed in an appeal of a United States Citizenship and Immigration Services Order denying Special Juvenile Immigrant Status to a minor child, originally from Guatemala. The effect of the win is that the child is now entitled to apply for and receive permanent resident status. This win follows wins on behalf of her two sisters, also FormanWatkins Pro Bono clients, who prevailed in their asylum claims.

Breast Cancer Awareness

During the month of October, the FWK offices observed Breast Cancer Awareness in a few different ways—by having an “Honor Wall” that displayed stories shared by members of our team of how they or their loved ones have personally experienced breast cancer, by holding a pumpkin decorating contest, and by wearing pink—to honor those we have lost, those who are fighting, and those who have survived.  Below are the new stories shared by our team members, as well as a picture of the pumpkins submitted for the pumpkin decorating contest.

Abdalla Selected to the Top 10 in Mississippi Business Journal’s Top 50 Under 40

FormanWatkins Partner, Mary Clift Abdalla, has been selected as one of Mississippi Business Journal’s Top 50 Under 40 for 2020. As the name suggests, Top 50 Under 40 recognizes the state’s 50 up-and-coming business leaders under the age of 40. Considered one of the state’s most prestigious awards, the award highlights individuals who have made significant contributions to Mississippi’s overall economic progress. All of the Top 50 Under 40 recipients have involvement that go beyond normal working hours. Their days are extended by a large number of civic and community activities.
