Important Litigation Involvement

  • Represented developer and golf entertainment client before local zoning board to create overlay zoning district which allowed for the first outdoor golf entertainment venue in Mississippi.
  • Represented developer in various land use and development projects in Southeast United States.
  • Represented company executives in breach of contract case filed by former executive over alleged wrongful termination.
  • Involved as national coordinating counsel and/or local counsel for clients defending product and/or premises liability claims in asbestos cases filed in Oregon, Washington, California, Texas, Illinois, Missouri, and Louisiana.
  • Involved in the day-to-day management of the national defense of clients in both premises and products litigation, with responsibility for overall defense strategy, motion practice, expert retention and development, settlement strategy, and trial strategy.
  • Trial experience defending premises defendant in three-week trial in Oregon involving claims of asbestos exposure at client’s facility. Drafted and argued post-trial motions that persuaded trial judge to vacate jury award based upon plaintiff’s failure to produce certain exposure evidence in discovery. Assisted in appellate process with resulted in appellate court affirming trial court’s decision.
  • Trial experience defending premises defendant in two-week trial in Washington involving claims of asbestos exposure at client’s facility. Responsible for direct and cross-examination of experts and arguing pre-trial evidentiary issues.
  • Defended client involved in multi-plaintiff litigation in which claimants alleged neurological, respiratory, and cardiovascular injuries because of occupational chemical exposures. Involvement included participation in two-week trial before the South Carolina Workers’ Compensation Committee.
